The historic center of Autun , lined with ramparts, is home to a rich architectural heritage. Saint-Lazare Cathedral, in the heart of the old city, dominated by a Gothic spire, has a remarkable Romanesque tympanum representing the Last Judgment. Around the church, the visit continues with the discovery of the medieval alleys; the Rolin Museum which exhibits collections of archaeology, sculpture and paintings; and the Museum of Natural History.
The City of Art and History Autun also has remarkable ancient remains such as the Roman Theater, which is the largest theater in Roman Gaul. The Saint-André Gate, the Gallo-Roman ramparts, the Janus temple and the Couhart Pyramid.
Autun is located in the middle of Burgundy and is the gateway to the Morvan Regional Natural Park.
